Tax News: IRS Deadline Delay
Individuals and businesses will have an extra 90 days to file and pay the IRS if they owe additional income tax for 2019. As part of the government’s response to the coronavirus, individual and small business filers will be able to defer payments — without incurring interest or penalties. This means you have until July 15th to file and pay the IRS if you owe on your 2019 taxes. But taxpayers should still try to file their federal returns by April 15th (especially if you are receiving a refund).
Previously filed returns cannot be changed. Please make sure you send any e-file authorizations or special requests to your tax representative as soon as possible.
The due dates for the first, second and third 2020 estimated tax payments are all extended and now due October 15th.
